More than 1,000 mosques in the Arab country will host the sessions during the holy month, Iraq News reported.

They will be held every Thursday after the Asr (afternoon) prayers, according to the ministry.

The programs are aimed at enhancing the spiritual atmosphere in Ramadan, the ministry said.

Ramadan (which is likely to start on March 12 this year) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.
